v    When do we meet?
Weymouth & Portland Metal Detecting Club is held at 8:00 pm every third Monday of the month at New Weymouth Police Station, Radipole Lane (opposite Weymouth F.C.).

v     How do I join?
Membership is open to all responsible detectorists who reside within traveling distance of the club, and can regularly attend club meetings.  We cannot accept membership from people who live so far away as to make attendance of club meetings impossible. An annual fee of £13 is payable on joining the club, subject to a satisfactory probationary period of three months attendance at club meetings.  Full membership is granted subject to approval by the committee.

v     Do you have any club sites?
Various sites are available to regular club members.

v     How do I contact you?
Club Chairman: Paul Rainford      E-mail: paul.rainford@talktalk.net
Club Secretary: Mike Apps
          E-mail: michaelapps@yahoo.co.uk

v     Who governs the club regarding finds?
We are affiliated with the
National Council for Metal Detectorists, and follow their guidelines.

As a club we work closely with the Dorset County Council Metal Detectorist Liaison scheme, for reporting finds of importance and always follow the guideline of the Portable Antiquities Scheme. By doing this we help preserve our heritage for future generations to enjoy.

Membership of the liaison scheme is open to all bona fide members.

v     I am a land owner, how do we agree on finds and values etc?
If you are a farmer in Dorset or South Somerset who would allow club members to search on your land, we would love to hear from you. We are a responsible club, and we are happy to share our finds on a 50/50 basis. Please contact the Club Chairman with your details.

Who knows, you might have a valuable hoard on your land...

v     I lost my wedding ring; can you find it for me?
Members are certainly quite willing to give it a go, drop us a line and we will try to help.
